Members are not eligible to have a job until the completion of their first 50 days of workshops and Community Involvement. Length of participation depends on an individual’s goals and progress. Next Step members spend anywhere from 50 days to six months at our Lawrence Street Shelter and our Community Center developing a foundation for a successful future.

The first 50 days of Next Step focus on Community Involvement, job skills training, relationship development, financial planning, addiction groups, and Bible-based spiritual development. Members begin Next Step by developing goals they want to pursue, participating in Community Involvement activities and receiving their bed assignment at our Lawrence Street Shelter.

    Shelter beds are only available for men at our Lawrence Street Shelter and 48th Avenue Center. If you’re ready to take the next step in your life, we’re here to help. Next Step also helps men identify talents, pursue ambitions, discover opportunities, and ultimately transition out of a shelter into greater stability. While regular overnight guests at the Mission are assigned beds through a random lottery, men who participate in our Next Step services are given a guaranteed bed assignment. Our Next Step services help men experiencing homelessness take steps toward stability by addressing basic needs like food, shelter and job skills. Shelter Locations for Women and Childrenĭenver Rescue Mission is not equipped to provide emergency overnight shelter to women or children, but other partner organizations in Denver are available. This shelter is also host to Next Step, a service designed for men experiencing homelessness who want to pursue a path toward permanent living situations. Guests have access to three meals a day, showers, laundry, safe storage (designed to store overnight guests’ possessions during the day).
